Shore Fun Improv

WHY SHOULD YOU
LEARN & PERFORM IMPROV?

That's easy to answer...because it's fun! But learning improv the "Shore Fun Improv" way can be so much more than just fun. Over the last two decades, we've taught everyone--star athletes, shy kids that parents dragged to workshops, talented actors, class clowns, and those daring individuals who just wanted to try something different. No matter the type of student, they all seemed to benefit and grow. What kind of benefits? We've noted the positive impacts in five categories: academic, social, personal, team-building, and of course, theatrical.

IMPROV WISDOM:
Why are you always in a good mood after an improv? It could be Interactional Synchrony. According to Psychology Today, Interactional Synchrony occurs "the moment individuals morph into a cohesive group...a coordinated group experience can be pleasurable and exhilarating. The satisfaction may be due in part to an energy surge." That's why you feel great and energized after a night of improv games. We are wired to enjoy connecting as a group! Thanks, science.

The Player's Pledge

Perfection is Impossible
I am here to learn and laugh, make friends and have fun.

Listening is Everything
I will listen to my fellow players, my teachers, and myself.

Acting is Adventurous
I will bravely face my fears, take risks, and trust my imagination.

Yes, And--is Always Better than No, But--
I will be an optimistic player who agrees and builds scenes.

Energy is Essential
I will perform with all my might, one-hundred percent and then some.

Relating is Accepting
I will be confident enough to express my true self and accept all others who do the same.
